Prologue

We were using this collage for a live performance start. The lights were off and the musicians inconspicuously turned up on stage.  The background is Kocab’s project Odysseus, where you can hear Petra Janu.

Jack-of-all-trades

Mikes’s song. It's about a monotonous life, where a marriage changes into just a habit, when you feel you could do a lot, but there's still something, which keeps you from it.

Magic Might

The Summer has its magic might. For me and Dr.MOZSE this song means the same as Yesterday for The Beatles. A fate, unbeatable and quite simple song. It describes my July 1985 adventure with Lucie Bartova of Lenora, with whom I spent a wonderful Summer dream in Drevenice Camp. She’s never heard the song. I wrote nothing better since then, though I wrote resuming songs later (Strange Sickness, Strange Help and Strange Helplessness). The melody inspired the Chinaski’s song of Mlada garda.

Put Your Hands in Pockets

The main refrain motive is written by Mikes. I added the story of my first love and sexual experience from September 1985. Since then I’m no virgin boy anymore. Thank you, Daniela.

Strange Sickness

Fading love is a strange sickness. The song tells a story about my love Ivona in my college time in Prague. Also, it reflects the fading bitterness of my previous love Ilona.

Mary

Writing and recording of this song was a big fun. I made it with mikes. Every Friday we all met in dancing club „M“, where I later met my future wife Jitka. The song was popular, so DJ Goofy included it in the playlist. Later he died. Thank you, Pavel.

Lies and Truths

Mikes’s song. It's so easy, inherent and natural, when you lie to yourself and sham yourself. I like the song, 'cause it differs from our usual style then. No public performance, it’s just a recording.

A Hooligan

I tried to write a punk song. When I rushed to the railway station in 1984, I was singing this song.

Strange Help

If a girl gives you a hope and takes back immediately, it's a strange help of her. A recall of a short and stormy romance with Eva Juraskova in Spring 1987. My college years.

I Know It All

This brisk song was included in the playlist of Chinaski band live performances for a couple of years. The guys of Chinaski wanted to use it for their first album. I didn’t allow them to do so, however, I don’t know, whether my decision was suitable. Chinaski always respected my decision.

Heavy Wine

It’s a song by Mikes. A blasphemer of everyday events without adventures. About ordinary days, when you're just alive, when you just survive.  It’s like heavy wine you can’t resist.
